On 04/28/18 detectives with the Macomb Police Department received information about the whereabouts of a subject wanted in connection with a recent drive-by shooting in Galesburg, IL. The shooting, which occurred this past Thursday, April 26th, left a 17-year old victim in critical condition.
Macomb Detectives set up surveillance on multiple residences in an effort to identify Dwight D. Washington. Washington had active warrants for his arrest out of Knox County for two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and one count of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm stemming from Thursday’s shooting.
Washington’s whereabout were confirmed by detectives and a search warrant was obtained for 916 Wigwam Hollow Road, Apartment 1. The apartment was quickly surrounded by detectives, Sheriff’s Deputies, and members of the Macomb-McDonough County Strategic Response Team. Multiple suspects exited the residence and surrendered to police. Officers executed a search warrant on the residence and secured it.
Dwight D. Washington was taken into custody on the outstanding Knox County Warrants. Also arrested was Kavon Johnson and Terrian Whitaker. Both Johnson and Whitaker were arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and drug charges.
Macomb Police Officers were assisted by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office, the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety, and the Galesburg Police Department.
