On Friday, March 6th, 2015 the Macomb Police Department named Officer Denise Cremer as the 2014 Officer of the Year. In January of each year, Macomb Police Department officers nominate fellow officers that they feel are deserving of the award of Officer of the Year. These nominations are then reviewed by an awards committee and make a final reccomendation. The award citation reads as follows:
The Officer of The Year is an officer that has been identified as an officer who exemplifies dedication to duty, demonstrates outstanding job performance, unsullied moral character, exceptional community/civic leadership or service and maintains a professional police image and bearing.
Officer Cremer serves as one of the department’s three investigators. Officer Cremer demonstrates a strong quality to work as a team and the performance of the division has excelled with her help. Officer Cremer is always willing to put in the extra time and effort that it sometimes takes to work a case in investigations. Officer Cremer was an integral part of two homicide cases in 2014, both of which were successfully concluded. Officer Cremer continually seeks out opportunities to expand her knowledge base through training and has demonstrated a willingness to continue to learn. Officer Cremer accepts responsibility for any case assigned to her and for the year she had an 87 percent clearance rate.
Officer Cremer also goes above and beyond by taking on extra responsibilities in the department. Officer Cremer sits on Domestic Violence Committees, works as a department Juvenile Officer and serves as a liaison with the juvenile probation office. Officer Cremer is also an Elderly Services Officer for the department and serves as the liaison for the Macomb Police Department Explorers program. Officer Cremer has served as an elected officer with the Macomb FOP Lodge 189, demonstrating the respect her fellow officers have for her. Officer Cremer also regularly participates in the Shop with a Cop program through the FOP.
Officer Denise Cremer has demonstrated outstanding job performance and an extreme dedication to duty. Officer Cremer’s willingness to take on an investigation, no matter the difficulty, demonstrates her willingness to confront the criminal element bringing those to justice who are deserving. Through her actions Officer Cremer demonstrates her dedication to the citizens of Macomb and her care for their safety. It is with great honor that the Macomb Police Department bestows Officer Denise Cremer with the award of
